I have a B- that seems to be having problems staying charged. How do you polorize the gennie and why. thanks

the generator has two terminals "A' and "F". the Field is the ground wire. it goes to the resistor on the light switch and other side of resistor is "grounded"---the Armature turminal goes to the cut out relay (small black box on the generaotr side). other side of the cutout goes to the amp meter, then to battery.----- if you have a working amp meter or volt meter ont he tractor, do this. put a small jumper wire from the "F" terminal to a ground bolt on the tractor. see if the amp meter charges. if it does, the resistor is bad ont he light switch or the switch box is not grounded good. --next, jumper around the cutout, wire in to wire out, and see if the amp meter charges. if it does, the cutout is not closing and is bad.-- if you are charging, but battery is goind down when off, then the cutout is stuck closed and not breaking the circuit when motor is off. lift the wire off one side of the cutout and see it discharge stops. if you need more info or drawing, send e-mail [email protected]
