i just changed the fonrt hub grease seals in my 42 c. the seals are strange looking. my question is, after the seal is installed in the hub and the hub put back on the shaft, should the seal spin with the hub, or should it stay "rigid" like the shaft the hub mounts on?

Use your pocket knife to trim the felt so that it doesn't fit the hub so tight. Also grease the felt well. I don't know if this is the proper way to do this but I had the same problem when I did mine and this worked for me. No problems since. If the seal is allowed to keep turning on the axle, I would think it would soon cease to be a seal. Also, it might damage the axle.

The felt seal is on the outside of the seal assembly and the hub actually spins on the seal. The seal is rigid on the axle.

That seal on the front wheel does not spin with the hub. I have a CA AND THE HUB SPINS ON THE SEAL, IT HAS TO BE DRIVEN ONTO THE SPINDLE
