Took a fmj mag off my allis c and put on a fmx. Can't get the timing fast enough. Perhaps the fmx I bought is not all the correct parts or maybe the fmx will not work because it won't be timed for the c engine. Any ideas? I'm no mag expert but I'm learning. The tractor ran perfect with the old mag until one of the ears on the impulse coupling broke off. Thought another mag that fit would work. Wrong!!!

Your C should have a CW (clock wise) rotation mag facing the drive end that has a 30 degree impulse. A FM-J4B3 and FM-X4B3 are interchangeable if they are both of the same rotation and have proper impulse on them. The FM impulse is not adjustable like on some other mags and has to be the right one. Only way to tell without running on test stand it is to pull the impulse off and look at degree marks on impulse hub with trip pawls. Also the gear inside has to be timed right with the C mark on fiber gear lined up with beveled tooth or marked tooth on the metal gear. Also the engine timing may be off some. If you need parts to fix the J mag I have those also.
