I need some information on an AC mod. C. How big (physiclly and hp.) is this tractor compared to an AC mod.B? How about compared to a Farmall C or Farmall A? I have never seen one and am trying to get an idea of how it would work for me.

Did this model come in wide front end and tricycle? Was this a 4 speed? What kind of hitch was standard? Are attachments readily available?

Thank you for the help!

The B and the C were essentially the same tractor. The B was made for one-row cultivation, The C for two-row work and differed in wheel spacing. The C was replaced by the more powerful, better featured CA in 1950, while the B continued to 1957. The is an article in the archives at this site about "the little AC's" which will have most of what you're looking for.

The AC-C is very compairable to the AC-B.Here are the specs for both:
AC-C AC-B
years made:40-49 38-57
HP;PTO:18.82 21.17
HP;Drawbar:12.6 15.6
CID:125.3 125.3
Trans:3-F 1-R 3-F 1-R
Front Tires:4.00-15 4.00-15
Rear Tires:9-24 10-24

The C was available with either adustable wide or narrow front ends and power adjuster rears.
It had a flat drawbar that conected the main hitch with a half moon bracket to either side final drive. Thier are aftermarket companies that make 3-pt. hitches, but watch out what you attach the front ends aren't weighted very well and can get very light. Even pulling from drawbar a heavy two wheel wagon or spreader will make these tractors brake-steer only. I know from experience. Allis made several attachments for the C.
Belly mount sickle bar mower, two row cultivator, plow, and there are probably more but thats the ones I know of.
Where they seem to wook best these days is with an aftermarket belly or rear mount finishing mower.
As far as compairing them to farmal C i believe they are real close.

Hope this helps you out.

P.S. The specs I quoted above were taken from the tractor tip site. With a small amount of looking you can all the information you want on one of these things. I'd give you the URL but I didn't write it down. I keep it in my favorites and go in for a look quite often.

All the above is correct with the exception of the power adjust wheels that weren't on the C. They became available on the CA which was the next generation. Powerwise the Allis B & C and Farmall A, B & C were about the same. The Farmall A & B were about the same size as the little Allis. The Farmall C was physically larger because it didn't have drop down final drives and used larger rear wheels. Tractor Tips is a pretty good site, the url is; www.tractortips.com
I have a link to their site on my pages.
For really good information on the Little Allis Chalmers go to the article archives at this site.

Thanks Don for straightening me out, you made me go out in the garage and take a look at my 49 C. Sure enough no adjusters, sorry about that won't let it happen again.
