I'm in the process or restoring a 1940 b model allis and have run across something on this tractor I don't know what it is for or what it goes to.behind the carb on the block is a right angle elbow coming out of the block it has no hose attached.but looks like it should.I'm thinking it is some kind of breather or overflow. But not sure for what or what goes to it.thanks for any help

Thanks goes out to you all for your help. This is my first tractor restortion. Its been fun so alot of fun so far. When I purcahsed the tractor a few weeks ago the muffler had leaked water into the manifold and down into one of the cylinders and thus froze solid. after a few days I removed the drain plug with a five gallon bucket under it to catch what I thought would be the 4 quarts of oil the tratcor holds and maybe another of water for the ice,But imagine my surprise when the bucket was over half full of water before any oil had come out! I removed the manifold and with a flashlight gave it a quick inspection through the ports and figure my next expense will be to have the head trued up,with the valves ground and lapped in and new valve guides put in place hopefull this will stomp out any future problems.I"m having the started and generator rebuilt as we speak. If this keeps up i may need a second job! :) Its all been alot of fun and i have met some great people thanks agin for all the help and if you have any sugestions or horror stories of things to avoid please share!

I agree with Kent. It is the block drain for the cooling system.
