I bought a couple of D17's last Sunday and one of them has no low range in the Power Director and the PTO does not work. The guy I bought them from said a mechanic told him that a busted gear in the PTO gear assembly will also lose you low range in the PD. What do you D17 guys think?

Thanks,

Yes, it can. (however, the PD gear train is atop the PTO gears, so it would be the opposite of what he said, i.e. the PD gear may be broke and it can cause the PTO to stop working too.)

Drop the small cover from under the PD compartment...u should be able to see what's goin on. Could be a broken gear or a shelled bearing.
