I need to buy a set of rear tires for my unstyled WC. Everyone seems to be saying that the correct tire today is a 14.9x24. According to my dealer the outside diameter on these tires is right at 50 inches. If so they will only clear the fenders by about an inch. Will this look right? Can anyone email a picture of an unstyled WC with 14.9's. Thanks

Where did you get the impression that I had F20 wheels? Mine came of another WC and are factory 8 x24's.

I have just recived an original manual for for my 1936 WC. It has the rear air tire size as 11.25-24. I am by no means an expert nor do I dismiss anyone else"s recommendations. Just useing the tools at hand.

I have a 34wc on round spokes and old 13-24 tires. This is normal for a wc. Years ago we had a wc on 10 or 11 24s, that was just not right. Old 13-24s same as new 14.9-24s.

The original tire, "new size" should be 12.4x24 look in the Data book.

Original 11.25-24 became 13-24 and later became 14.9-24. Note the different conventions - original 2 places to right of decimal, then no places, current is 1 place so 11.25-24 is no where near same as 11-24 or current 11.2-24. If you want to go 1 size under, that would be a 13.6-24 (same as previous 12-24), but I wouldn't try 12.4-24 (previous 11-24 and original 9.00-24) thats what my B has on it - way too small for a WC.

Al
Thanks that helps a lot. I just bought a set of rear spokes so now I need the tires. Plan on spending between $300 and $450 depending on condition. My old WC has spent its life on full steel and I thought it time to change to rubber so it can be driven. I live in town. My Great Uncle bought the old gal new so I have to keep it.
