Hi, I bought a very nice pair of Unstyled Fenders for my "36 WC sight unseen. Now I want to mount them to the tractor. I have some long bolts coming out of the fenders and I assume those are used to mount to the frame in front of the axle and behind the axle. Is there anything else that I need to mount these fenders. Currently I have a nice pair of Clam shells on the tractor, but trying to put the old girl back to original. I have a parts man lined up in Wichita Kansas, just need to know the parts now....

Thanks,
Scott

The long bolts go on front only, not the back of fenders.

Thank you on clearing up for me where the long bolts go. OK, now what else do I need to get these fenders mounted. I do have Allis Chalmers books, basically reprints of the originals from the 1930"s but they do not cover fender mounting.

Thanks,
Scott.

There are also 2 U-shaped brackets, one leg slightly longer than the other, that bolt the fender to the rear axle housing. Can be made out of 1 1/2 inch wide steel, quarter or three-eighths thick. I think the short leg bolts to the fender, the long leg gets held by an existing bolt on the circular steel axle cover. What shape are your clamshells in? Are they for sale?

The clam shells are in good shape, the back corners have been bumped and repaired about a 3 to 4 inch area on each side. Very solid fenders, the tractor has been sheded for many years, and now is under a big water proof Tarp. I plan on selling them once I get the unstyled fenders mounted, hopefully will help offset the cost of the fenders I bought for restoring the old girl back to original. If you are interested in them, I live in Des Moines, Iowa and I can be in contact with you when I get them off ready for selling. Also thanks for the information on the U-shaped brackets, if I can't buy them I am sure I can make them.

I had to make one or two brackets when mounting the fenders on my '37- otherwise I wouldn't know squat about them. The originals were about 5/16 inch thick and I made mine from 3/8, which was harder to work with. 1/4 would be a better choice. If you have none other in the area to compare with- give me a holler at [email protected]. I could send pix. Otherwise, just mount the fenders onto the cast brackets and figure out the closest bolt to hook to with the brackets, after the first bolts are loosely in place. I'm looking for fenders for a 1950 Model WF, and today took one to another collector to compare to his WC, WD, WD45. Found out most clamshells are the same, just different brackets. The WF is mounted differently, and has a half-moon cutout, but I figure I can modify a WC, etc. clamshell to match the WF fender. Main difference in the clamshell is a formed stiffener that does not exist in the WF. Plasma cutter, bfh, wire feed, etc. and I'll have a copy.
