leroi 226 same as AC WD engine??

I have a Leroi D226P 4 cylinder engine in a trencher that needs rebilding, I've heard the AC engine used in the "W" series tractors is the same. It sure would make parts scrounging a bit easier....Any truth to that vicious rumour?

You can use WD45 inrernals, gaskets, etc

Be careful - first there are 2 somewhat different 226 Allis engines - the W226 (WD45) and the G226 (D17) variations. Supposedly they have different cranks and other internal parts got heavier duty in G series. Both were only available from Allis as Gas motors - as Allis chose the Buda developed Diesel which I believe was 262 ci. Anyway, if the D226 is a diesel, go lightly in using Gas engine parts as diesels generate higher pressures.
