Could anyone please tell what fluids should be used in the Final Drive, Front Support, and Transmission of the Allis Chalmers model 170. The model year is 1967.
We would appreciate any information you might be able to supply concerning this model.

Ed,

I'm really glad you asked this question. You sound like someone who really cares about the big orange machine, and that makes me smile :-)
When I first got involved with my AC 170, all I could think about was getting that thing really working well. I went out and greased that thing until there were gobs of grease oozing from every orifice on that baby. It worked GREAT!
I suggest that you do the same.
However, it had sat so long , that once I got it going I had a few leaks that literally scared the happy-jacks off me. Well I eventually got those fixed and now I'm looking forward to bringing in the crops.
The next thing I did was go out and get my hair cut like a darn Marine. It felt great. I suggest you do the same.
Well, one last piece of advice, I suggest you get somebody who really knows tractors to help you. Like a young son or the like.
Well it was great talking to a fellow AC'er. P.S. I hope your crop doesn't turn to crap while your trying to get the big orange lady back in service.
Talk to you soon.

Bill
