I have recently purchased a 1940 B from a family friend whos grandma bought this tractor brand new, about 12 years ago they drove it in to thier garage and there it set till saterday when I dug it out. I got it home and started checking it over. There are just a few things that need to be replaced, the one piece I can not find is a new gas tank. The whole bottom was rusted out. It is an all gas engine to i'm not sure if I need anything special. Any help would be great. This is my first restoration project.

Start surfing on Ebay. There is a tank on there almost all the time.
Good luck,

the original tank from early 40s had two tabs on teh bottom with a bolt on each side to attach to the wraparound. the later tanks have a strap on the top of the tank with a 5/16 bolt going striaght dwon from the top into a brakcet ont he steering column. either will fit, but you may have to modify if you get the wrong one. also ask the guys on allischalmers dot com. several guys on there will have a spare tank to sell you.
