We can help you out with your cable needs. Drop us a line if interested.. Cable size and cleanliness is critical on the 6V systems. The 6V systems are not designed to spin fast, but they do need the correct size cables and cable ends for the higher amperage and good connector contact. Thank You Dwayne for the referral! It's appreciated!

1/0 'Big as your thumb' Cable. TSC and Napa sell it by the foot.

We use / reccomend this stuff on the ford N board... and nothing sounds slower than a ford starter! (GRIN)

I agree with Kent. You can get by with 1 gauge but 0 is better. 4 is the common gauge in the auto parts stores and they will not work. Measure carefully the length and get the shortest cables that will work. Also, the connection to the frame for the ground cable and from the starter to the frame must be very good - no scale or rust. If you do these things, a 6 volt system should work.

I just hooked up the battery cables on a C that I am rebuilding. I thought I had good connections everywhere but it wouldn't turn over. Had to run the ground directly to the starter. That works fine but I've got to make it work the correct way.

When I had the starter rebuilt on my Ford NAA last year, the coat of cheap black paint the rebuilder shot on it was enough to prevent it from doing anything. i had to pull it off and buff the mount flange down and re-install.. then she spun up fine.

On a six volt system the bigger the better. When I was working on my uncles WD years ago I used welding cable. I used the size they recommended for 300 amps over a 100 feet. It will not be "corect" but there will not be any loss.
