If I understand right the rear end oil on the "C" also lubricates the hydraulic pump. What oil should you use that's compatible with both items. I've been told 20W but that doesn't seem to be right for hydraulics. Thanks for the help!

I weigh in with 30W non detergent oil. The hydraulics on a C or CA work fine with 30 and the additional viscosity of 30W is better for the gears and the seals.

a thin weight motor oil such as 20 wt will work, but could do some foaming and cause airation if used excessively. also motor oil contains some addatives that are not beneficial to a hydraulic piston type pump. you can used either, but the new spec would be universal hydraulic trans fluid that you can get at Wal Mart or local Farm lStore. get a 2 or 2.5 gallon pail for about $10-14. should take 8 quarts.

That is a debate that will go on forever some of the guys say hyd and some say 20 Back when these machine were built the oil to choose from were slim .I stayed with the 20 wt and It seem too do a better job than the hyd, what I have found is the hyd oil gets hotter faster and you need more rpm,s for good hyd control. just my 2 cent Jay
