Last summer I posted a message asking for help getting my B to run. It had been running well, I worked it for 4hrs, parked it and it would not run when I next tried. Replaced all parts easily replaced (points, plugs, condenser, coil, etc.). The tractor had been converted to 12 volt alternator and I overheated the 6 volt starter while trying to start it (required a starter rebuild). Among the recommendations made here was that carb might require work so I had it rebuilt. The tractor still would not run and I had run out of time and patience. About three weeks ago I decided to try again. The only thing I could think of that I had not tried was timing. In the process of checking this I accidently grabbed the rotor. It moved about a third of the distance inside the distributor. Pulled it out and found the gears on the distributor drive shaft were badly worn on one side and there was corresponding wear on the distributor shaft gear. Replacing both gears solved my running problem. In the process I learned that I have a hybred, as the distributor and distributor drive are from a Farmall, adaped to fit the Allis. I have since found other farmall parts on the tractor. I also replaced the rotor and distributor cap with parts for the Farmall as I was told they should be compatable. It runs well and I made my wife happy by getting it out of the front yard (It's in my basement garage).

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions last August.

Doug
