hole in gas tank

JB weld, per the factory, is gas resistant once cured, if placed on clean metal.

They also make an epoxy stick called waterweld.. it claims to stick to water, oil, or gas 'wet' metal.. I've used this on a leaky gas fitting onmy IH cub as a temp fix.. never did leak. I'v also used jbweld on a pinhole in a tank.. also worked. The sheetmetal screw and oring works if the tank metal is strong enough to let you pull it down.. You can then jbweld over that if you wanted to.

I havn't brazed any tanks.. but have soldered a few seams and holes over.. I would make sure the tank is 100% gas , fume and residue free.. Like wash it out with paint thinner.. then hit it with a soap or degreaser.. then let it airdry inthe sun.. for a few days before I get a torch around it..

Using the sheetmetal screw with a faucet washer is one method.

The method I saw a few years ago. Clean the spot to bright metal. Find a pre1982 penny (100%) copper. Clean it to brightness. Flux the whole thing and solder it on using either an soldering iron. This repair should last for a lifetime.

I used the tank sealer on a G tank that had some weep around the seam. JB Weld doesn't work well in this situation. The instructions on this are bit more complicated but should be covered with the product.

And lastly, once I had a hole in the gas tank of my car. The steel was strong all around the hole. I found a small machine screw with threads all the way to the head and placed a hard rubber washer on it and screwed it in. Lasted as long as I had the car - 5 years.

I think you can braze the tank as well but this is very dangerous and should only be done by experts.

I would not think bondo would work in any situation. Wrong application.
