Can anyone tell me if there is a common Chevrolet starter that will fit the ACWD45. It has an AC-Delco starter and I believe the drive is the same as a small block Chevy. I am currently using the drive from my JD430. (Same drive, different housing) Any information would be appreciated.

I BELIEVE THE STARTER WITH THE LONG COPPER STRIP
WOULD BE THE AUTOLITE OR PRESTOLITE STARTER. THE STARTER ON MY 1946 ALLIS C IS A PRESTOLITE STARTER AND IT IS CURRENTLY BEING USED WITH A SOLENOID, BUT IT COULD BE CHANGED TO USE THE BUTTON TYPE SWITCH AND PROBABLE THE LONG COPPER STRIP.

Terry, there may be a Chev starter from the past that would be the same as the starter section. The problem is that at least around here all those starters have been used up. The nose cone I am sure you wouldn't find in a Chev. You can buy drives from the parts houses like CT (who is now merging with Quality Farm and Fleet.)

While on the subject of starters for WDs and WD45s, I am currently trying to determine if mine is an Autolite or Delco starter. If anyone could help me identify the difference. I know one has a small copper button on the side of the starter that a switch is mounted over and the other has a long copper strip on the side of the starter. Which is the Delco and which is the Autolite? Or does anyone know where I could buy a switch for the long strip starter?
