D15 Series 2 Gas- lights and wiring

My dad"s D15 has NO lights. I have the schematic, and I know that the fuse in the dash is good, but there aren" any lights after the dash, meaning the wiring BEFORE the fuse is bad. I don"t have a problem replacing all the wiring, and maybe getting new lights as too, but I"ve never dealt with a 12V system where the positive side is grounded, and the Neg is the source. Any Tips?

Chee,
Before you go ripping wiring out, inspect the lighting part of the harness, and inside the headlights first. If the D15's light circuitry is like the other D series with the lighting to a junction up front, check for corrosion and or broken wire(s). Also inspect inside the headlights for a broken ground wire. I believe the ground was riveted to the inside of the headlight housing. Vibration could've broken the ground over the years. Another idea, fuses are deceiving. It may look okay, but replace it with a new one anyway. A low voltage backfeed sometimes will only burn the very edge of the fuse, making the fuse still look good in the center where you would normally see the blow, but you can't see the break on the edge. What's nice about the D series is the lighting circuitry is like a seperate harness. It should be easier to find. One other thing, the D series uses a lot of male/female blade connectors in the system. They're great for housing moisture and corrosion at terminal ends on switches and connections. The ones you can get to on the dash for lighting, pull them off and put em' back on a couple times and see if that helps make a connection again. Good Luck! You'll find the problem....
