I have the wheel/tires off of my "C". Painted the hub inserts and ready to put the wheels and hubs back on the tractor. What's the proper procedure to put the wheel/tire assembly on the hubs using the 4 clamps? I see that 2 of the wheel bolts have got concentric shoulders on them. Do you tighten them last? There's nothing in my service manual regarding this. Thanks for the help!!

Hi,

You use the eccentrics to tighten the rim to the hub.

Here's what I do with my B. The C should be the same, I think.

Install the two eccentic clamps 90 deg apart and each directly opposite a non-eccentric clamp. Start with all four clamps installed but not tightened. Rotate an eccentric bolt to force the clamp (and the opposite clamp) hard against the rim. While holding the eccentric bolt that way, tighten the nut on that bolt. Repeat on the other eccentric bolt. Finally tighten the other two non-eccentric bolts.

put the normal locks at 12 and 3 o-clock position and hang the rim/tire on the wheel. put the cam locks at bottom (6) and 9 o-clock positon, 90 degress apart as Ron said. slug the standard locks. tighten the cam at the bottom to get all play out of the locks. the weight of the tire should be hanging down with play at the bottom. tighten the side cam to get forward- back motion out of the wheel. if you can rotate the cam 360 degrees, then it is worn, will need to weld the curved faces of the locks to buildup another 1/8 inch so you can get them tight.
