I have a '53 WD I am restoring, I was wondering what everyone was using for paint brand and code etc. I was going to use implement enamal on the body and good paint on the tin but I think I am going to use good paint on the whole thing as I have a buddy who restores Farmalls and the red doesn't last but a year and fades so please tell me what you have used and what has worked well for you and maybe a paint code.

Go down the side of the home page on ths site to paint codes. There you will find a number of paint codes for various paints. I can tell you from experience that I used the acryllic enamel and I have been very happy with it so far. It is a little pricy, but I do not want to have to redo it for a while and I do not want to put multiple coats, (ie.base coat and clear).

the color is pursian orange #1. it is a pumpkin color. the code is PPG 60080. your best bet is to go to the local auto body shop in your town and talke to the the guy. PPG makes an OMNI and MAE model that are reasonable price considering the quality, but still be prepared to pay 2-3 times what you pay for the normal enamel paint at Wal Mart. A top quality model is DELSTAR for PPG which is about $150 gallon if you can get it. This is top quality automotive paint. two part enamel with a hardener.
