8050 throttle cable

I just bought a 8050 powershift. It seems like the throttle cable either sticks or freezes. Yesterday, I started it up, everything was fine, got up to about 3/4 throttle, and realized that I couldn't throttle down. Had to unhook the cable from the injection pump to shut the engine down. After unhooking the cable, I gave the throttle lever a good pull, and it freed right up, and everything was fine. The throttle arm on the side of the injection pump moves perfectly free, so that is not the problem. Went to start it today, and it was stuck again. Couldn't even get it started without unhooking the cable from the pump. Is there anything I can do to get the cable freed up? I tried spraying WD40 into both ends. If I end up replacing the cable, is there any trick? Looks like a pain to replace.

Jerry is right about lubing cables, but an easier way is to get a control cable luber at a motorcycle shop. They don't cost much and are easy to use. I also prefer PB Blaster to WD40. WD40 penetrates well, but blaster (and some other products) lubricate a lot better. You might also chect to make sure that the cable didn't get crushed, pinched or kinked. Good luck.

Hi Just spraying WD-40 on the end is not usually enough. What I have done in the past is fit a hose over the end of the cable and hose clamp it on then fill the hose with WD-40. Take an air nozzle to the end of the hose and use air to force the WD-40 up the cable. You might have to repeat this until it starts to come out the top. This has worked for me more than once. But if it doesn't the only thing you can do is replace it,and look out for the price. It's a shocker.
