I need a starter for a ac 170 diesel. The one on it is delco 1107859. I have had it rebuilt and i think the windings are getting weak.It just doesnt have much torque anymore, have checked and changed the battery and cleaned wire terminals. where is best and cheapest place to buy new one?

Jerry , I had mine rebuilt today. new armature and bendix, and brushes. I wasn't sure if the parts were available since i was having a hard time finding them on the net.

was that with or without core? Do you hande farmall starters and generators?

I believe I need the core.(can check on that if you want)If you did all of that the only thing left is bearings hanging up and windings going bad. Not that I'm trying to talk my self out of selling parts but it sounds like you are on the right track. You more than likely have a fair amount of money in this starter already.Delco starters have a lot of interchangible parts.(nose cones,size,and clocking being the differences)
