My gas 170 will kick over and putter a little bit and then die. Any notion what I need to do? I checked the spark & it seems to be fine, checked for gas in the carb and it has gas. I"ve done a fair amount of veihcle maintanence, but not much trouble shooting. . .

It was running fine before the ice storm, but not since. The control lever for the governer did freeze, but that has since thawed out. . .

Thanks in advance!

- John.

Sounds like a choke problem. Choke lever working? Also check between carb & manifold-is it frosty there? One extremely cold day ice must have formed there on our 17-had to hold hands there to try to thaw it.

You might have a dist. cap problem, also have you tried to choke it a little more then you do most times you maybe need a little more gas til it gets warm.
