I would like to use a new KingKutter brush hog, 5 ft wide, 40 HP, $459, with my Allis Chalmers Model C tractor. I still have to buy the 3 point hitch conversion kit and brush hog but before I do that I was hoping someone could answer some of my questions before I make the investment. I appreciate any information. I assume that the 40 HP rating on the brush hog is a maximum HP that should be used, is that correct or is this a minimum rating?
What HP is the AC model C rated at? Will my Model C will be able to adequately power and pull this brush hog. From pictures of a 3 point hitch conversion kit and a brush hog with its shielded drive shaft, it didn't look like the brush hog drive shaft would reach the PTO shaft on the tractor. Can I assume that it will reach? Is the brush hog drive shaft extendable or is it fixed length? From a picture of the 3 pt conversion hitch it looks like a hydraulic shaft holds the hitch in position. Is there a way to lock the 3 pt hitch in place without relying on the hydraulic shaft to maintain the height? Will the connector on the brush hog drive shaft properly mate with the PTO shaft on the tractor? Will I need an adapter? Thanks, Rick
