I have a 1949 AC/CA that has a cracked engine block. I am having trouble finding a replacment. What size modern engine will fit? email [email protected]

Kasey, where is the crack? if between the liners on the top, and not opened wide, you are o.k. It is not abnormal to have 2 or 3 cracks between the pistons that are .030 inch wide. THe head gasket will seal that. If the cracks are open up over a 1/16 inch, you might need some repairs. If the block is damaged in some other area, you need to consider if it is a problem.

AC C, CA, or late B (after 1942?) same CE motor. Shoud not have that much trouble finding a block - there were over 200,000 made. I'll check to see if I have anything here in SE La.

At some point in the 1950's the blocks were changed. They look different, but might work. You can tell by the boss for a fuel pump. Do a little research to see what else is different.(Parts manual). My tractor has a combine engine in it. Looks okay, but has the wrong numbers. You can tell whether an engine is same year as tractor by the numbers.
