can you put d-17 sleeve kit 4 1/8 bore in a WD?
Is the only difference the new pistons would be
7.5 to 1 instead of 5.5 to 1?

According to our Agco parts dealer, the high compression kit for a WD45 is the same kit/part number for the D-17 (It's not an Agco part. A&I??). That's the way I went for my WD45. It may or may not work for a WD. Isn't the stroke only 4" in a WD. WD45 is 4.5" Good luck with your project!

I think the difference in stroke between the WD and WD45 is the difference in the crank- the 45 crank has a different throw dimension. That changes the compression. ie- the piston moves farther because the throw on the 45 crank is longer.

WDs WD-45s use same rods diff cranks 4 stroke on wd 4.5 on 45s so wrist pin to piston crown is diffrent height 45 pistons in wd with 4in stroke would lower compression would be lucky to run. wd pistons with 45 crank would raise compression not sure you could put head on pistons sticking out of bore
