Allis model E ?

I have a model E I recently bought. It has the 5 1/2" pistons with the 8" stroke engine type. I can't find the S/N? It has flat bar lug steel wheels. I have been told they made a special E model with the larger engine for belt work would this possibly be a special variation?

I aint too sure what ya got. You might want to check the bore and stroke again. The biggest engine used in an E was 560 cu. in. It has 5 1/4 bore X 6.5 stroke. According to all my info Allis never produced a 5 1/2 inch bore or 8 inch stroke. The serial number should be stamped on top of the tranny. Okie

THe E only had a 6.5" stroke. If it is a Greyhound it will have a larger radiator and should say Greyhound across the top tank. There were 16,862 E's produced of which 1,426 were 25-40's produced from 1930-1936. The A which succeeded the E is much more rare at 1225 produced from 1936-1942. There were a few one off threshing E's produced that were a combination of E and A parts but they are few and far between.

If it is a greyhound, it will have a heart-shaped oil filter mounted on the dash and a dry type aircleaner.Also should have a brass plate on the left side of the dash with a serial number. The fenders will extend all the way to the floor pan. Give me a call at 918 789 3293 and I would try to help ya identify what you have. I have a 1926 Greyhound. Okie
