Allis CA Generator does it use a regulator?

I have a CA with a generator and the tractor has the three position switch, does this use a regulator, or is the switch the regulator??
From what I understand from the manuel the switch adjusts the recharge amount, is this true??

The three position switch does control lights and charge rate. All the way in 3 amps, no lights, second position, 3 amps with lights, all the way out, 10 amps with lights. The regulator is the little box piggy backing the generator.

the little box on the generator is the cutout, whih is 1/3 of a normal voltage regulator, as mentioned, the light switch takes the place of the current regulator portion of a voltage regulator. the current is not "regulated" with a cutout system. the llight switch sets charge and "hi" or "low", not variable. it does this with the resistor mounted on the back which "sets" the F wire relative to ground.
