Hydraulic pump not working correctly

Hi guys My problem is that the hydraulic pump is not working when it is cold. The hydraulics line are not froze and when the engine run at idle the hydraulic will lift my home made snow plow but very slowly. I dont know what type of hydrailic oil I use because I am not in the shed right now THANKS TO ALL

You need to use a non foaming oil in the hydrolics like non detergent oil. I use 20 or 30 wt oil in mine , I have no trouble.

I noticed you were discussing 20wt nondetergent oil. I need some for my new compressor and am unable to locate any in the Vancouver, Wa. area. Where can I find this oil in Wa or Oregon?

It may have been serviced with gear lube. It would be best to get the system warmed up and then drain the current fluid. The hydraulic system was originally serviced with engine oil. I would say to service it with any of todays universal hydraulic fluids that are also labeled for use with wet brakes, but not ATF. There is drain plug on the bottom of the fluid reservoir case and another on the bottom of the hydraulic pump control case. The plug on the bottom of the reservoir is a magnetic plug so clean it off before reinstalling the plug. The sludge layer in the reservoir can be thick enough and dried enough that you will have to poke a screw driver through it after you remove the plug to get the fluid to drain. The lubes for the WD/WD45 are: engine oil in the engine, hydraulic fluid in the hydraulics, gear lube for the gears. The air cleaner is supposed to get engine oil also, but I had good luck using ATF. It keep the media wetted better and worked well in cold weather.

There is hydraulic oil in the hydraulics and there's no water in it Thanks
Also, AW 68 is the viscosity of the oil and if I use engine oil What oil should I use for winter
sae 10w30 ?
