Allis WD rearend trouble

I own a 1951 WD and the rearend makes a whining
noise. I know this is normal for this year of WD. Unfortunately the noise has been getting louder. What could be going bad to cause this?

Some of the AC WD's Rear end spider gears had sleeve bushings pressed in them. When the sleeves wear or come loose or fall out of the spider gears the rear end gets noisy. Sometimes the sleeve bushings or pieces of them get "fed through the gears" and can cause more trouble. Later WD spider gears and the "replacement" spider gears are "all steel" with no sleeve bushings. You may want to check this out as soon as possible to avoid serious damage.

Make sure the final drives (on the wheel end of the axles) have gear oil in them, not water or empty!! You have to spin the wheels out and drop the pans to clean them.

Bearing could be going south on you and or it could have water in the rear end, which would also make the bearing go south
