D-15 series II draft system

I have a D-15 series II with a bolt on 3pt hitch. I am using an old ferg. 2/14 plow to turn virgin soil and I am finding it difficult to maintain a constant height. Because I am not using my snap coupler, could my draft system/traction booster not be working????

What is the three point bolted to? The three point set ups that I have seen bolted on have a bracket bolted onto the drawbar in front of the drawbar guide, which would be tied into the drawbar control system. If you can get a hold of a manual it will tell you how to set up the system. It could be your traction booster is working causing the plow to raise and lower. This is what I suspect is happening from your description of the type of ground you are plowing.I would be kinda leary of pulling anything that was not attached to the pull point that the drawbar hooks into under the tractor.

There is a bolt on bracket for the lower arms. It looks like someone made a draw bar that attaches to the snap coupler, comes through and bolts to the 3pt, and then out the back for hook up. I see what your are saying; this could be where the 3pt is connected to the draft system, and it could be out of adjustment. I was not farmiliar with the allis drat/traction booster @ the time of operation. After reading my manual, it seems pretty involved. I need to hook up my traction booster guage, and fill hydraulics. I dident have the traction booster lever set at a selection either. This could have been a user error. If you could give me some pointers on the tb system I would appreciate it!

I wish I could simplify it for you but I am not that smart. On the WD adjustments have to be made in order for the traction booster to work and the books is pretty clear on how to do that. Once you start plowing you slowly move the lever up the quadrant until the slack is taken out, and when the plow pulls hard the booster slightly raises the plow which put a littl extra weight on the wheels to get you through the tuff spot. I have never plowed with a D series and do not know how they are set up. If you take your manual and sit on the tractor and go through the motions while reading the book I am sure it will come to you. Just take it one step at a time. Hope this helps some.

Unless the add-on 3 pt has been linked in somehow (unlikely), the TB draft sensing won't be a part of the depth control because it gets it's "signal" from the snap-coupler mechanism.

For a fully-mounted plow, you could try rigging up a depth wheel to help give consistant depth. Gatz
