Model C Allis oil pressure

I can't get any oil pressure on my Allis.I put a new pump ,sump screen,and just rebuilt the engine.Do you have to prime the pump somehow?

I am willing to bet it is just a simple think such as the filter type. Do NOT use carquest. The best ones for Allis are Fram, for your app, I think c 159 but not sure. Just look inside the end of the filter, should look like pillow stuffing type batton in it, and also have a mesh end on it. These are available from Fleet & farm type stores and most automotive. Paper and filament type filters do not qwork for older Allis. Filter shouldnt be more than $5-$6. Shane

you have to prime the pump from the tube just behind the engine, next to the filter base.

you need to see if you are pumping and have no pressure, or not pumping at all. take off the filter and see if it is full of oil. see if there is a 1/4 inch steel tube with a 1/8 inch hole in the top sticking up thru the filter. see if the filter is stuffed cotton material (good) or pleated patper (bad) like an auto filter.--- pull the valve cover and see if there is oil coming out onto the valve springs. if it is pumping, but not pressure, problem is the filter. if there is no oil to the top end, prime again.
