I have a 42 WC. Can anybody tell me what plug wires go to what position on the magneto? The Mag is numbered 1234. Where is the number 1 on the tractor and what way are they numbered? Somebody please help!!!!! !!!!!

The rotation of your magneto rotor is clockwise viewed from the rear and you firing order is 1-2-4-3. If the magneto and drive is correctly installed (sometimes not) the wire to the #1 (front) cylinder will go in the top inside hole in the cap and therefor the wire from cylinder #2 goes to the top outside hole in the cap. The wire to #4 goes to the bottm outside hole and the wire t #3 goes to the bottom inside hole. If you want to check for correct installation of the mag and drive remove the #2 (front) spark plug and have someone slowly hand crank the engine while holding your finger in the hole. When you feel compression pressure against your finger continue to slowly crank until the magneto impulse trips and stop. You will notice that there are two caps on the mag (if you have the right one) remove the smaller cap and look at the rotor position. If everything is as it should be the rotor should be just past the inside top terminal, almost straight up but not quite. If that is so, install the wires as above. If it is pointing almost straight down the mag was installed 180 degrees out and you have two choices. Install the wires in the order given above except start with #1 at the bottom outside hole and proceed clockwise around the holes or you can remove the mag, rotate the drive 180 degrees and install the wires as they should be. The tractor run run the same either way.

are magneto and wires setup the same on the c as the 42wc

In my proceedure for checking for correct installation it should say remove the #1 plug, not #2, sry.
