I have a guy that said he would trade me straight across for his wd-45,he says that the tractor is in great shape,almost new tires,engine and clutches good,metal good. he now wants my 8n plus 1000.my 8-n is also in good shape but it is only half of the wd-45.What do you think about the trade? I do want a bigger tractor though.

Here in the midwest the 8N is worth between $2000.00 and $2500.00. The WD45 some where around $1000.00 to $1500.00, both in equal condition.

This weeks local adtracker for mid Missouri had two adds for WD's (1) $800.00 private individual and (2) $1000.00 dealer.

I think the guy has the deal turned around. You should get the WD45 and the $1000.00.

Correct me if Im wrong but the guy wants your 8n plus a thousand cash for his wd-45??If thats the case I would say no deal.That thousand dollars could get you a decent WD or WD-45 and you still could keep the 8n if you desired.Just my opinion.

Just plain bigger is not always better. I have an 8N that I have restored and a AC D17 in great shape that I use most of the time. The D17 has an aftermarket 3pt. hitch on it. The power steering and the power director (hand clutch)are two features that keep me climbing on the D17. There are still things I like do do with the 8N. I'd suggest two tractors. If that's not in your reach, then consider what YOU want in a larger tractor.
I.E. power steering, live power, live lift, 3pt.
etc. If the WD45 fits your list of requirements,then haggle for the price. Like the others have said the 8N generally just brings more money.

yea, the WD45 is twice the tractor as the 8N, but a decent WD45 is $1200 and a decent 8N is $1800 around here. I would prefer the WD45, but consider the price difference "value" of the tractor, not only its size.

I have used both and I agree with the previoius posts. The WD-45 is about twice the tractor as is the 8N. But you must also consider value. If both tractors are in good condition as you say, I know of no place in the country where the AC would bring as much $ as would an 8N or even a 2N or 9N. If I were dealing, I would be asking for the $1000 but might be willing to deal a little. I might consider a straight-up trade if the AC had a wide front, and a 3-point conversion.

Although a WD-45 is a lot better tractor than a 8N. Around here (New York), you could buy two, maybe even three WD-45's for the cost of an 8N.

There are a lot of AC's around here. But, you are right about the WD-45's (not many). I have seen good looking, good running Wd-45's go at auction for as little as $800. Course, I've seen them go as high as $3500 for a nice WD-45 (gas).

I almost hate to say it, but the 8N will be a much more comfortable tractor to ride on than the WD45. I own both a WD and an NAA and know this fact firsthand.
