My neighbor has an Allis Chalmers styled WC that he may want to sell. I have not seen it yet. I've heard that it has been sitting outside for a few years. It may have a bad radiator, but otherwise works. It may also come with a belly mower.

My question is- do these tractors have any sort of way to install a 3 pt hitch? Did they have any kind of implement lift? What about the pto- I assume it is not-live PTO, right?

Basically, I could use another tractor just for fun, but a 3 pt hitch would be a huge plus and woudl let me do actual work with it.

Well, your heading down a road that I am already on. I have a WC (and WD, WD-45, D-14, D-17, C and G) that I am going to do a three point. I haven't worked out the details but I have collected some parts. I bought the lift arms from a WD which can be bolted on the drawbar platform. I am going to build a linkage for the mechanical lift on the frame between the mechanical lift and the pulley wheel which will push the bottom lever on the WD lift arms just like the hydraulic cylinders would. I'll have adjustment in this pusher link. Initially this will be a two position lift only. If it is too unsatisfactory, then I'll add hydraulics. Not doing this for necessity. The D-14 is the best bush hogging tractor I've seen (got Fords, Oliver, Massey, Moline and John Deere, too). I grew up on a WC so this is sort of a project to make the old girl more competitive with her newer sisters.

One other thing. I think $800 is too much money for a WC that isn't running. Even if it were running, $800 would plenty. If it isn't running, I think $500 is plenty. Paid $400 for mine and it was running. Paid $550 for a running WD that had a water in the oil problem. Paid $1000 for the best WD-45 I've ever seen. It is nice that it is close to you but don't let that influence your decision.

I forgot to mention that a probable selling price would be around $800. It apparently basically runs, but may need a radiator.

I think that if it came with a belly mower, I could dedicate it to a mowing machine and not fret about the 3 pt.

I mostly am just itching to get more tractors in my stable...and this one is less than a mile away. I am quite ignorant of the AC models, so these responses and this forum have been helpful.

If you just want it for collection purposes, buy it. As a user, it is not very valuable. I sold a pair of styled WCs about a year ago for $1000. Both were complete, one ran very well, the other ran but needed work. As to hydraulics/3-point: Anything is possible but this is not cost effective on a WC.

For a work tractor - forget the WC. For a few hundred dollars more than your purchase price for this non-running WC you can purchase a running WD series tractor.

For $3000- and under there are some very nice used tractors that have live hydraulics, 3-point, and sufficient power. I'd look around. On the other hand if the price is right the belly mower might be of great interest.

Bottom line: By the time you do all the recommendations the others have given, it won't be worth your while. I do not know how much work you intend to do with 3-point equipment, but even converting a WD will be easier to do. By the time you have all your money invested in this, you probably could purchase a D-15 that already has 3-point.

As far as a pre-made aftermarket 3 point, no, there's not a canned solution. Some of the WC's had a mechanical lift. That would be pretty easy to convert, but hard to do much work with since control is crude.

ANYTHING is possible with a bit of imagination and machine work. Do not run a hydraulic pump off the belt pulley. The momentum of the pulley delays clutch action. If you want to add a hydraulic pump to a WC, do it on the front of the crankshaft, just like on a WD, etc.- then you have live hydraulics. There are some attaching points on a WC where you could add a three-point hitch, with some good engineering and machine work. The pto is not live- it is controlled by the foot clutch.

The WC tractors never had hydraulics from the factory.However this doesnt mean it cant be done.Your best bet would be to run an auxilary pump off the belt pulley on the side of the tractor.This way you could still retain the use of the PTO.It can be a crude and trying installation but it can be done and then you will have a nice addition to your tractor and it will be more usable.Good Luck!

Don't remember if the had hydralics on them but even if it doesn't they can be put on and then an after market 3 point can be added and not live PTO
