HD3 Reverse but not Forward

Looked at HD3 for sale 4 gears and forward reverse
shuttel. machine will back but barely move forward no matter what gear. Pull handles for steering clutches and very little resistance. What could be the problem and would it involve parts or adjustment ??? Any ballbark dollar figure ?? It is a loader. Did they have skid plates ?

Sounds like the shuttle clutch needs to be adjusted. You pull the plate on the right side of the tractor where the oil cooler lines go, and you pull shims. There are tolerances you have to follow, but you can find them in the repair manual, or maybe at your local AGCO dealer. As far as the steering clutches, they shouldn't be really tight. On the front side of the finals, about even with the top of the track, is a large bolt and lock nut. This is the clutch adjustment. You tighten them until the clutch handles are about an inch and a half from the seam on the fuel tank.
