Can Allis Pull 3 Bottom

My father and i have bought a 1952 Allis Chalmers CA, and was wondering if she could pull a 3 bottom plow. Were not really up on all the things thier willing to do this is the first tractor we are rebuilding any info will be appreciated. Thanks!!

My first tractor was a 1956 CA, equipped with 2 14" plows and a 6' pickup disk. The tractor had weights all around and fluided tires. Now, that Traction Booster made all the difference in the world and you could hear it working overtime in this heavy Kentucky clay. Second gear and about 3/4 throttle and that combination would plow the prettiest furrows you ever saw. When I sold the outfit, it was pretty well used up and sometimes I miss having it around. It had it's shortcomings and I got tired of them.

"growing up" on my grandpa's CA it would pull a
mounted 2/14 easily in black Iowa soil.
It was heavily weighted with fluid in the tires
and weights on the front and rear.
The engine was also in very good shape.
I have often wondered how it would have done with
a pull type plow.
2/14"s are enough for this little workhorse.

Tyler, I spent a lot of hours on a CA (years ago)that was in good shape and pulling a 2-12 mounted moldboard plow. I dreamed of having a third bottom back there to help me finish sooner. Then I would hit a clay spot and come back to reality. It'll pull 3-12s if it's hitched to the lift (traction booster)and you are in silt or loam, not clay, but lifting the plow out at the end of every round will be really hard on your hydraulics. The CA simply was not designed for such a big plow. BTW, if your CA is really crankin with a big 3btm plow on the rear, and your foot slips off the clutch, you're gonna have a real fright. Only reason it may not turn over on you is that long plow back there may save you. My advice is stick with the 2 bottom. Hope you enjoy your CA, it's a great little tractor. And pretty easy to work on.

My CA worked well pulling 2 -14" plow in heavy clay in second gear. With moisture in its favor,that is. It would not handle the 2 16",s though.

That CA only has 26HP so it can pull a 1 bottom real well and if things are just right maybe 2 but it would have to be good ground for it to do that.

A healthy CA should be able to pull 2-14's almost anywhere with the traction booster working correctly. 3-12's or 3-14's are probably possible in good conditions. You would need some front weight with the 3 bottom.
