As I said in your other post, the Ford has a 3-point hitch, a major improvement. It probably also has power steering, live power, and a much lower center of gravity. The WD-45 is a row crop tractor. Though these were much in favor in the 50s, they no longer are. As a result, the 3000 will be a better mowing tractor especially if your ground is steep. Additionally, parts are probably more readily available from more nearby dealers for the Ford as NH dealers still exist while Agco dealers are less numerous in most parts of the country. That said, the WD-45 is a good machine, if in good condition. It simply is less desireable to most and commands a lower price as a result. As others have mentioned, Ford Select-O-Speed transmissions, though the "cats meow" if good, have developed a bad reputation, mostly undeserved, resulting from improper maintenance and the unavailability of some parts today. They are very expensive to repair and, as a result, many are in need of work. Does the 3000 that you are looking at have the 10-speed Select-O-Speed transmission? If so, does it work properly in ALL speeds when fully up to operating temperature? Something to think about. Ford 3000s were available with conventional gear transmissions as well and such machines usually command a higher price. Finally, two vintages of Ford 3000s were made. The earlier 4-cylinder version was made in the early 60s and is essentially a Ford 601 series machine. The later 3-cylinder series was made in the middle and later 60s and is a heavier, more modern, and slightly more powerful machine. Dean
