how many hp did a D19 gas have approximately??
and what were the pro"s and con"s ?

Let's put it this way, I have used both and I love them. Friend has one of each and says if he ever sells out they don't go!!! I would take them over any other make in the same HP range (except maybe a NICE Cockshutt or Oliver). If you can get it for under $2500 buy it.

Put quite a few hours on a gas D19 as a college student. Not quite as nimble as the 170 that was also on the farm (an excellent tractor too), but a very good tractor overall. The Allis mechanic we talked to before buying it worried about the heads on the diesel, but said "the gas weren't near the problem, though the manifolds have been known to crack." About the only repair we made to the tractor before my boss sold out was to replace the exhaust manifold, which cracked about a year after he bought it. The aftermarket 3 pt. will be more useful to you than the original snap-coupler hitch, in all probability.

D-19 gas had 63 drawbar and 70 pto horse power with the diesel producing just a little less than that. D-19's were only made for 3 years, 1962, 63 and 64. There was only 1 "series" of D-19s. They are a powerful tractor and are very cheap horsepower for the money they bring. Some will tell you that the gas D-19 is hard on gas but they are not any harder than any other 6 cylinder gas tractor of the time, some will even argue that they are more economical than the competition's 6 cylinder of the same size. Worse part was they have a small gas tank, makes it seem like they are harder on gas than what they really are. The D-19 diesel was the first diesel tractor in the industry to have a factory turbo has standard equipement. They are excellent tractors.

ok,, now my next question .. what are they worth?? the tires arent much, and it needs paint,, it has a 3 point but it isnt factory

Here in North MO I've seen several D-19 gas tractors sell for right around $2000. It's very cheap HP.

Around 71 HP from what I know the series 1 had a few problems but the other series where better but thats just what I have heard

There weren't that many D-19's made before AC came out with the 190, around 7000 if I recall. So a whole lot of peoples opinion is based on something they heard from a friend of a friend who knew someone who drove one once. In other words, not that much first hand or long term knowledge of the tractor. I own one, a D-19 gasser. It burns more gas than a 4 cylinder gas tractor and also produces more HP. It burns quite a bit LESS gas than my neighbors green 6 cylinder gas tractor of about the same HP. My D-19 cost me a little less than $2000. and even after adding a 3 point conversion and better rear tires, I've got less than $2200. tied up in it. That is right around $30. per horsepower, and it's every bit as well built as any other D series tractor. Now the D-19 diesel tractors did have problems with heads cracking if they weren't cooled down before being shut off, and so did the D-17 diesels as they share the same basic engine. The D-19 diesel had a turbo and the D-17 diesel did not, there is where the hp difference comes from in those tractors. In a way I hate to say just how good a tractor the D-19 gasser is, because I really like the fact that there are obviously a lot of unfounded rumors out there or the price of the tractors would be several thousand dollars more.
