just bought tractor moving it 250 miles. friend has single axle trailer 3000 lbs. cap

The 3000# will likely include the weight of the trailer. I don't think there is anyway you can legally haul it on that trailer. You might be able to take off enough stuff to get the total to 3000#, but I doubt it. Forgetting that it's most likely not going to be legal, could you do it? Yes, if everything went well. If it didn't and you were in any kind of an accident, you would most likely be sued for everything you have and everything you might ever have. Your insurance company would also sue you to get back anything they had to pay for your stupidity.

My owners manual states 3,310 with filled rubber tires or 2,800 on steel
I vote don't do it, get a 16' two axle and arrive alive and with your new prize

My '39 weighs about 3200lb-tires are not loaded.
