we are trying to use the tractor but it just doesn't want to break loose any ideas on what we can do to help?

Not sure what your asking but here goes anyway. The belt pulley has a retaining screw and jam nut just inside the tractor frame. This will allow you to push the pulley assembley into the tractor. If i remember right you will find a mark on the frame and on the pulley tube. These must be lined up to allow the gears to mesh properly. The assembley can be pulled out of the tractor if it is seized up and use penatrating fluid to try to loosen it up.

I also do not understand the question, but what you mention is important, to get the correct gear backlash. The marks were factory or dealer installed, because the various holes in the pulley assembly are at different distances from the end of the assembly. That provides the proper clearance, or backlash, of the meshing gears.

well the belt pully was locked up it wouldn't spin so we used the tractors and we eventually got it to break free and spin

I think (if I am remembering right) that the outter bearing in the belt pully is lubed by you greasing it through a grease fitting in the end of the shaft, the inner bearing is lubed by the hydraulic oil. If yours was stuck I would suspect the outter bearing could have been frozen? At the least I would grease it.
