wd 45 hand clutch

need some help with the hand clutch adjustment, our hand lever will not stay back in the engaged position unless you hold it ther. we have done some adjusting of the shims but it still will not lock back any info will help thanx mike

I had a similar problem. the belview washer was worn where the rollers engaged it. I rotated the roller assembly about a sixth of a turn in relation to the belview washer. That cured my problem.

Leakage is one thing, but if the clutch it self is not work right . Check the retaining ring. I had a clutch that was not working right and the ring ended up in the PTO.

Allot of work to fix one gear atfer the other broke.
