I recently discovered an old Allis Chalmers road leveler or grader. It appears to be nearly complete. 4 cylinder gas engine with magneto. Red in color but not bright red, sort of orangeish red. Appeers to be 3 speed transmission. Large tractor rear tires and the front seems to have 15 inch car tires fairly far apart. WhAT is UNTIQUE, there is a blade running from side to side under the trans as if it was used to level a road. There are 2 huge manually turned wheels, one on each side of the steering wheel. These work and change the adjustment of the blade raise or lower. There is also a crank located in front of the equipment. This seems to adjust the camber of the front wheels, I'm guessing ??? There is no 3-pt. PTO as a farm tractor would have. What is the model of this equipment and is it worth restoring.

You may have a road grader built by American Road Machinery, I have seen one built with a MM.Tractor for the rear wheels,trans and motor. Last I knew it was at ranch new Montrose,co

AC made a road maintainer many years ago, using the WC frame, with an extension in the front. 4 cyl engine- WC had the four speed transmission. Outward appearance was the styled WC. Large handwheels on either side to adjust the blade. Sound like what you found?

Thanks for the reply. I think you hit it exactly. There is a serial plate on the right front of the chassis. I didn't have my glasses but I managed to read the big letters. Can you tell me more, this has my couriousity. I restore antique clocks so this project provides the same interest. What is required to determine model, year built, location, how many produced, value as is and value with average restoration. Yes I watch daily RFD/TV. I probably should have changed the channel when I saw the first antique tractor show, now I'm hooked. Can you send me in the right direction to learn more of this find. The owner of this thing hasn't been seen in 5 years so I'm not sure if it's even worth persuing. What's your thought's.

OK- you hit me at a bad time- wedding to go to on Sat, half a state away, gotta be back Sun AM for one of two grandbabies baptism's- born on the same day, and a town theatre group meeting that afternoon, but hey- after that I'm open for looking up some of what you need. I have some books on road maintainers- don't know yet about numbers, etc., but willing to get back to you. Shout Monday!
