I bought an L2 gleaner and the galvanized sheet metal is weatherd and is rust stained in some areas is there a way to make the sheet metal look better

Don't use the acid it will break the the coating down and cause more problems than it solves. The spray galv works pretty well to protect but will look like gray primer. Not even a close match to the original look. Just my thoughts.

Just do the same thing that you are supposed to
do with galvanized roofing. Wipe it down with
automatic trans. fluid. It will both clean and
protect it. my 2 cents...

I have used CLR in a pump up sprayer to remove rust stains on siding. Might work on the galvanized sheet metal.

I remember my dad useing muratic acid and reduceing it with water then spraying it on waiting then hoseing it off. Hope this helps.

I see they now sell cold galganizing paint, never have used it but it's would a shot in this case. Wondering how it'd work on rims.

Well, there have been lots of suggestions over the years on what to use and one was naval jelly buuutt!!!Whatever you use I would suggest trying an area where it is not openly visible to see how it turns out. I personaly suggest using Mother's rubbing compound with a mouse sander and if it works coat it with wax to preserve the shine. I've seen Mothers do wonders on old harleys and it makes a nice winter project but in your case maybe winter, spring and summer. That L is a big sucker.Question, is that a black or orange engine L2? 145 or 158hp? good luck nice machine.

Congrats, you have a 426ci vs 301ci, better known as the 670T engine same as the engine in the 7045 turbocharged non intercooled versus the 649I which is the same as the 7020. Both are very reliable, my guess is you either have a Rice/Soybean Special or L2KS or Corn PLus. Does it have Hydro traction or gear drive? The L2 is a nice machine.In 1984 I won an award for the best bin sample for popcorn beating out all the axial flows and whatever with an L3Corn Plus with an 8 row head.
