Carb adjustment on 54 WD45

Have a 54 WD 45 and have been working on for quite q while. This site has helped me out a lot with the 12 volt conversion and when my starter shattered in a bunch of pieces and jammed flywheel. I must say thanks to al that have helped me so far. Now I have her runnung great but I have to have the choke out about 2 /3 of the way for her to run smooth. I have tried the top screw adjustment and can open and close with no change. I can adjust the "L" adjuster (power adjust) and it will kill the engine but no noticeable change in idle. I have taken apert abd boiled out carb. I tried to get needle valve seat out but will not budge so cleaned as well as possible and rteassembled using old parts. Is there any easy way to get seatr out? Also does this sound like it may be problem as I have PB'd it and heated and everything else and it won't move. Don't really want to buy new carb but if I have to I will. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

Do you have a vacume leak? As for the seat,it is probably OK. If it was bad it would probably leak gas, but not enough to cause it to run rich. You would notice it when you shut off the engine, after a while the leak would fill the bowl and you would have gas running out of the carb and dripping on the ground. Yours is running lean if you need to have the choke pulled out that far. Is it possible you have missed some dirt in a passage somewhere in the carb? When cleaning them you need to know where everyhole and passage goes and see that it is clear. Sometimes it takes a while to figure out where everything goes to. Probe with fine wire and air, or squirt wd 40 through holes and see where it comes out or doesn't come out and should. As I said you need to find where every passage goes to and see that it is clear. My brothers WC started and ran sort of. He had cleaned the carb, but missed the mud packed into a passage from before the choke to the bowl. The mud was mooothed off and blended with the carb so well you couldn't see it. Only by following the passage from the bowl did we find it. You may have something like this.

Thanks for the advice. I have been working on this tractor for quite a while and have it mechanically running great now its just this carb problem. I have been clamping a vice grip on rod to hold choke closed and using it like that when I need to work it. It runs good this way but not exactly the way I like my equipment to work. I will disassemble the carb again this weekend and take a look. Hope you are right as I know this carb inside and out now. Will get back to you and let you know what happens.
