I am looking for some pistons out of a 262 Propane engine. Were there a lot of these engines made? I know they used the G262 in combines and tractors but don't know if any propane engines were used in these.Anyone know where I should be looking to possibly find a 262 propane engine or at least pistons. Thanks for your time

LP piston # 4513391
gas piston # 4512122

Rings are different of course.
Rods are the same
Pins are the same
Block is the same

2 different sleeves listed in my book, but it doesn't say one is gas and one is LP. I wonder if the LP designation was just left off one of these numbers in my book?
# 4510817 and #4508465

Different head gaskets
LP gasket # 4513745
gas gasket #4514396

2 different head assemblys but not related to gas or LP as best I can tell
# 4513606 prior to engine serial # 402225
# 4513863 effective with # 402225

2 different fire ring gaskets to match different head gaskets
# 4513721 LP
# 4513750 gas

I have an LP fuel G-262 power unit on a late'66 or early'67 C-II Gleaner. I used it this year to cut what fescue there was and there was not much. I think we had a late frost which hurt the seed crop. I have a G-262 part manuel. I also work at an A-C dealer at one time and the sleeve kit for LP fuel tractors was differant than the gas tractor. I think the G-262 parts manuel list a sleeve kit for the LP engines.

I had a 262 AC power unit that was on LP. The LP system looked factory, you might watch for an irrigation engine.

I believe the D-19 was the only thing to use the 262 ci engine on propane, if there was anything else it would have been a conversion I believe.

I once considered trying to use propane pistons in a D-19 we were going to overhaul, to boost compression and hopefully power. I had no luck locating them, and I was telling an older guy who did some overhauls in his spare time about my idea. He said that on Ford engines he used diesel pistons and had them machined to give him the compression he was looking for. Said he had done this on several tractors (Ford 3000 and 4000) with very good success. I ended up selling that particular D-19 without overhauling it and I don't really know if the same thing is possible with a AC piston that he was doing to the Ford ones, but I think you are going to have a pretty hard time finding propane pistons.

The D19 used a 262 CI propane engine. Tractor was from 1961-1964.
