Thanks for the responses. I just wanted to answer some of your questions. The older tractor must be a WC. It has the long shifter that goes way forward. I'll have to get the SN next time I'm out there. First I'll have to remove the hydraulic pump (looks like a beer keg) to see the SN. There is a JD #5 sickle bar mower attached to the WC. He says I can have the pump but he's keeping the mower. That's ok, I just bought a #5 a couple of weeks ago.

I'm 25 miles NE of Atlanta in Lawrenceville GA.

The tires on the WD45 are all shot. The WC rear rubber looks good. Front, not so good.

On the WD45 I tried to remove the the shifter to get it into neutral. I got the lock ring out but the shifter is all the way forward and won't move back, just side to side, so I can't get the washer out that is under the lock ring. Do I need to pull the cover?

I am going to order manuals very soon.
