I was just going through your pictures. Are you using some kind of stripper on your castings? They always look greasy and painted, then in the next picture they look like new. I'm going broke buying wire wheels for my angle grinder.

I use the knotted wire cup wheels on one of my angle grinders a lot. They last quite well for me. I start with a high pressure washer with a turbo nozzle first to get the real bad stuff off. I do some diggin and scrapin with a screwdriver or what ever it takes while using the pressure washer. I then spray with oven cleaner light and then while workin on other stuff go back and spray on more oven cleaner just to keep it moist. After a coupla hours or so of this I get after it with the pressure washer again, then go after it with the angle grinder, finish up with an air grinder with a carbide burr for the areas that the wire cup can"t get in. One tip on the oven cleaner is if you let it dry you get to start over as far as time goes. I buy the oven cleaner at the Dollar Store for a buck a can. I read on one of the boards that ya shouldn"t buy the cheap stuff cause the Three dollar a can stuff was much better. After about thirth bucks of the super market oven cleaner I found if it is better it aint that much better.

What are the dimensions of the spacer that goes between the oil seal and the rear wheel center. One side didn't have one and I'm not sure the other one is right.

Thanks

The above is for most of the stuff I do. However some of the stripped blocks were sent out to be baked and tanked which removes all the crud inside as well as out side.

Thanks Dick. The sheet metal ain't bad but the castings eat up the knotted cups. I've used the cheapies, dewalt and makita. I get 4 times the service out of the name brands. I had my block tanked before I rebuilt it last winter. I've got everything primed except for the trany which needs a little more brush. That's the '38B, then I get to start on the '39. I'll post some pics in the next couple weeks if I get it painted before it snows.
Thanks again. Charlie
