I'm new to the world of orange and need some help from all you experts out there, about the ins and outs of engine bearing shims on WD 45's. DO all WD 45 engines use shim packs in the rods and/or mains? If not, how do you tell if your particular WD 45 engine uses them? I'm in the process of rebuilding one. When I tore down the engine there were no shimns in the rods, and only the rear main had anything looking like a shim under the bearing cap (and that looked to be made of some kind of thin paper like a very thin gasket).

I have the I & T manual but it only talks about shims being used when you know for fact they are used. It mentions "shimless" rods. I don't know for sure if these are what I have.

45s didn't have shims. They stopped using shims at some point in WD production I believe. Your engine shop will be able to tell you too when you have things ground.
