I just purchased my first AC, a '52 CA widefront w/ loader, cultivator, and plow. Motor not stuck, but needs rebuilt, which doesn't bother me. I haven't torn into it, but I know there is a problem with the rear end. Are the transmission and differential from a B or C similar, will anything interchange? I have a buddy with a C rear end in good shape that he'd sell me cheap, but neither of us is sure if they are the same. Any help is greatly appreciated..

any of the transmissions or final drives will interchange as a unit. yes, you can put C finals on the CA. as Dick jokes, the internals are not all interchangable and you should not mix and match finals off two different models, but as a pair they can be isntalled. that being said, the C and B have the same transmission. CA is different, but "complete" change out is possible. note the bolt location (final drive) in the B and C is square with the tractor, and the CA is offset to give a bigger wheel base. but the spacing is the same.

does your friends c have a wide front? i'm looking to buy a c/ca wide front for my c. as for the rear end differantal, my friend put a ca 4 speed trans in his b. he had to machiene off where the axles go on but other than that it was a perfect fit. i don't know about a c-b to a ca rear end swap. probally would have to do the oppasite and fill up some space to make it work

If you want to make it a 3 speed the complete C/B transmission will interchange. Eather of the three final drives will interchange as well. You can make an off set tractor by putting a B final drive on one side. The B has a faster bull/pinion gear setup so the tires would turn at different speeds but with a little tire size change I am sure you can solve that little problem along with a block under one side of the seat. {:^D

AC B and C tractors ar three speeds forward, while the CA is four speeds forward. Tranny's are not the same, not saying that some gears might be. Parts book will show that. Regarding the rear end- I don't know- but check the casting numbers on the housings to start with. No guarantee on internal parts. You are dealing with two different eras of mfg.

There can't be any parts of significance that same in the transmissions. The CA is a 4 speed constant mesh transmission with angle cut gears while the B and C are three speed sliding gear units with straight cut gears. I can't say anything about the differentials.
