I have a 1940 Allis Chalmers Model B. It seems to work great. I have checked the transmission gears and they look good.

My only complaint is that the transmission seems to make allot of noise under load with those spur gears. Is this normal? Is there anything that can reduce this noise?

most B and C tractors make some gear noise in the transmission. i have one that does it in 1st gear, the other does it in 2nd. i run 20 wt hytrans oil since i have hydraulics on the tractors. i you have no hydraulics, you can put 90 wt gear lube in the trans. some say that hels muffle it a little. all in all, it dont hurt.
